University of Houston golf coach, Dave Williams, was often called The Father of College Golf. The Texas native coached 19 years in Houston and his teams won an unprecedented 16 NCAA titles and 14 consecutive conference championships over that span. The 1985 Cougar squad, which included Steve Elkington and Billy Ray Brown, won the school's 16th and final NCAA title under Williams at the Grenelefe Resort in Haines City, Florida.
